Yes, you read that right: Saalbach isn’t just the biggest ski resort in Austria, it’s also the biggest biking region. As a result, great emphasis is placed on providing the greatest possible variety. After all, it’s not just mountain biking pros and adrenaline junkies that should have all the fun – there should be a chance for newbies and amateurs, too.
In the HOME OF THE LAID BACK, 80 kilometres of the finest single trails covering various levels of difficulty await, plus over 400 kilometres of well-built and safe mountain biking routes that can be ridden on a mountain bike as well as on an electric bike. Six modern and comfortable gondola lifts in Saalbach Hinterglemm will take you closer to reaching the summit.
Once you get onto the mountain, you can decide for yourself which path to take back down to the valley. Challenging trails like the famous HACKLBERG-TRAIL, or if you prefer the more comfortable PANORAMA-TRAIL, will guarantee action-packed moments of joy.
In combination with the EPIC LEOGANG BIKE PARK, it could well be a new biking El Dorado. That means bike fans are well looked after in Saalbach and won’t find a more diverse choice of trails anywhere else. Those looking for more endurance and wanting to push their fitness levels can do it just like Madlen: on a mountain bike – without a motor, obviously – on one of the numerous and well-built bike paths going up the mountain. That way you’ll soon rack up your elevation gain and will be rewarded with pride and a breathtaking view. And if the pride isn’t enough of a reward, you can stop for a bite at one of the 40 open SUMMER HUTS. A top tip from Madlen: after all that exertion, enjoy a splash of elderberry juice followed by a dip in the cool water to soothe your aching muscles.
Brand new and incredibly popular: heading up the mountains by ELECTRIC BIKE. Thank to electric bikes, even long and demanding rides at altitude are easy. If the bike, and then you, run out of power at any point, you can charge it at one of the many huts while you tuck into a cool beer and an apple strudel.
What’s more, two bike journeys a day are included with the JOKER CARD, meaning you get to decide for yourself which lift to take up the mountain. For real downhill fans that can’t get enough of flying down the mountain, we recommend purchasing a bike pass for unrestricted use of all the mountain lifts, including bike transport, in Saalbach Hinterglemm, the epic Leogang bike park and Fieberbrunn. Thanks to the Joker Card, you’ll save a cool 30% on your bike pass.
If you bring your own bike to the Goldstück, it will find everything it needs. The adjoining bike room ensures security overnight, the electric charging stations available provide the power required for the following day and the hotel’s own wash station at the back ensures it can cool down after a tiring ride in the home of the laid back. Of course, bikes of all kinds can also be hired from the rental shops nearby.
