HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
Our journey together began in AUTUMN 2014 when we met in Innsbruck, during our studies. After two years we moved to Vienna. There we spent our free time mainly on the Praterhauptallee, running and training for the upcoming marathon. In the evening we proved to be real RESTAURANT TESTERS and drank our way through all the bars that VIENNA has to offer. Also new openings of RESTAURANTS and COCKTAILBARS did not remain undiscovered. Through this we collected countless ideas and impressions. Thoughts were written down and in the process one or the other food and drink menu disappeared into Madlen’s handbag. We quickly realized that we wanted to share everything we had seen and the best way to do that was to create our OWN HOTEL.
CHANGE OF SCENERY…
After two years of city life we decided to move to SAALBACH, where Madlen started working in the family businessHOTEL SONNEGG. We constantly kept our eyes open for objects to buy. And as so often in life, when you are no longer looking and so no longer expecting, DREAMS do come true. The former country house Agnes, a pension from the 70s and within walking distance from the HOTEL SONNEGG, we could call our own from JANUARY 2020. Initially planned as a renovated hipster pad, we used Lockdown Number 1 to completely clear out the house and subsequently gut it.
THE GOLSTÜCK…
After a month of physical labor, all that remained of the former Agnes country house were the exterior walls. Proud and full of drive, we were able to work together with our architects, the COMPANY MABin KAPRUN, and our interior design freaks from ST. CORONA INTERIORSdevelop a construction plan, when two weeks before the actual start of construction our construction manager expressed the following: „Why don’t you tear the place down?“ Shocked and down in the dumps, we needed a few days to digest these words.
Three weeks later there was nothing left of the Agnes and the basis, an empty lot, was created for our GOLDSTÜCK.
